Our Story: A Rich History in Las Cruces

Trinity Lutheran Church has a rich history of resilience and transformation in Las Cruces.

Our journey began from truly humble roots: one of our founding members recalled that his parents traveled to El Paso for church because there wasn’t a Lutheran church in the Las Cruces area. When someone knocked on their door to say a Lutheran church was starting, they eagerly said yes.

Members literally built the initial core of our church, starting with pouring a concrete slab and holding services outdoors on it.

Over the decades, our church family has consciously worked to overcome challenges, growing into the thriving community you see today. There was a period where two churches came together on this property, and the facility has seen two expansions.

Our original founders were very active, not just within this church and community, but also with the wider Synod, demonstrating a spirit that extends beyond parochial boundaries. This outward-looking spirit continues to shape who we are.

Our Dedicated Leadership & Staff

Trinity Lutheran is guided by a dedicated team of lay leaders and professional staff who are committed to our mission and serve the congregation with passion.

Our Pastor, Rev. Catherine Lemons, leads our worship and guides our spiritual growth. Alongside her, our Office Secretary, Minister of Music & Worship, Custodian , and various Council Members contribute to the daily life and ongoing vitality of our church. They embody the collaborative spirit that makes Trinity a healthy and supportive family.
